Beyond the horizon, off into the East, away from the cities and lights the skies open up and everything becomes clear.
This is a personal favorite of mine that I had neglected to share on here. It was captured early one morning on the beach of Botany Bay on Edisto Island. It was so dark that night with almost no light pollution off to the North from Charleston. Facing almost due East there was only a small remnant of the light and the Milky Way was clear and bright. A super high ISO was used during this exposure to help bring out that deep space color. I was even lucky enough to get a shooting star.
