Tempest

I made it out to Folly Beach over the weekend and managed to get there before sunrise. I took my bike so that I could ride down to the North end of the island which is a state park and looks over to Morris Island Light House. I had visions of capturing the rising […]

Turtle Tracks

While exploring the beach at Botany Bay Nature Preserve I came across several sea turtle tracks where the mothers had come up the beach looking for a place to lay eggs. In two places, I was dejected to find that the turtle had run into an obstacle and turned around. Here you […]

Pointed

These rocks are intended to keep the sand intact, while the continual tide erodes and removes it moving it onto sandbars or further down the beach. The houses right behind this are in constant jeopardy of falling into the sea. As far as I know there are ridiculous rules about putting sandbags and other […]

Spectacular View

One of the best places to camp and hike in the Great Smokies. This spot was close to Cold Mountain both where they shot parts of the movie and the actual namesake. This grassy knob opened up on both sides and runs North to South so you have an completely wide open […]

Night Fishing

This couple had driven for an hour and a half to come and see the sunset over Charleston and try their hand at loosing bait. When I ran into them they were down big time and unfortunately had not had any payouts. A few nibbles here and there to keep their interest […]

Solitude

High in the Great Smokey Mountains very near the Appalachian Trail this lone tree stands up to the wind on the grassy bald. The sun was up above the mountains but hidden behind big banks of cloud. Little clouds were swirling around me and the wind was whistling. Up there I […]
