On the way up to OBX back in August I stopped at Kure Beach near Wilmington. In order to get there by sunrise I left Charleston at ~2am and loaded up the car with a whole CD case full of tunes back from college days. As I got on the highway the CD player jammed and I was stuck listening to the radio or the 4 track demo CD. Yikes!!!
Well driving under the stars in the pitch black listening to the whistling of the wind stream by wasn’t too bad.
I’d researched my destination at Kure Beach extensively and I was a little concerned about the tide. I figure that it would be way to high, but I’d at least go check it out and maybe get some scouting shots. When I got there the water was high and the sun was coming up fast. I didn’t have much time. So after finding a spot to park I jogged down to the beach and set up the time lapse and started shooting. The rocks were fantastic and something unique for me. I’m used to beaches of all sand.
This image was one of the final shots that I captured as the brilliant golden light highlighted the seaweed clinging tight to the rocks.
