Over the weekend I went out early one morning to Sullivan’s Island to hang out with the Fisherman. I’ve been here many times and never seen any fisherman. This day the tides were just right and they were out in abundance.
Photographers and fisherman have a lot in common. Both meandering quietly among interesting spots where most people would not go, either early in the morning or late in the evening calmly pausing to ply their craft. Patience, endurance, quiet…. Every so often a rustle of activity and excitement.
For this shot, I carefully navigated these vicious oyster covered rocks wearing shoes* to get close to the point as the sun rose above the horizon. A fisherman on my left exclaimed quietly as his line got a quick bite before the fish let go. The sun, the rocks and calm waters provided an amazing contrast begging to be captured.
