This fall I headed up to camp and photograph the fall foliage in Western North Carolina. Last year we went out to Colorado and Utah as a family and this year we decided to take some time and camp in the changing leaves. We hit a lovely family campsite called Honeybear Campground just outside Boone and the colors were incredible. Then we headed to Pierce Lake and saw these incredible deer and fawn right in the campsite.
These were all taken with a 1970s model 200 f/4 lens with all manual everything including focus. That lens is really tricky to capture anything spot on, but I think I did pretty well with these. I hope you enjoy this little taste of our trip.

The workshop was an incredible success and we captured some incredible scenes with our participants. Tommy and I were headed back to rest from one of the sessions when I saw this road headed into the fall wonderland. It was so perfect that I had to get him to stop. I dig these simple scenes. They give me a sense of peace.

Here is a cool video that Google put together automatically with some of the cell phone images that I took. Those guys at Google are pretty darn smart.
