It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve returned from the Smoky Mountains. It was my first trip to Gatlinburg, and I’m really glad that we travel early and late. That place is a zoo. Traffic is insane. It probably didn’t help that we went there during one of the busiest times of the year, before school went back.

Despite the crazy town, which was excellent for people watching, our group managed to find some truly remarkable light at almost every location. This sunset was from our first evening and as we watched from the overlook down into the valley off into Tennessee, we observed the storm clouds move in from the left and darkness ensued. It was a thrilling feeling knowing that in all likelyhood some really excellent color would develop. We didn’t have to wait too long, the results were splendid.
