The always impressive Looking Glass Falls. We had such high water from Hurricane Michael that we weren’t even sure we could get any shots off from this location. But we tried anyway and got soaked in the process. Totally worth every minute. Hats off to a great group despite the slow start to the Fall Color. #visitnc

My thoughts and prayers are with all those effected by Hurricane Florence and the aftermath. Wishing everyone a speedy recovery. This is from close to Wilmington, one of the hardest hit areas and one of my favorite spots to visit in NC.

Second star to the right and straight on till morning. I met this poor guy John, who ran aground shortly after it happened. He had set anchor well off shore on his way down to Florida and gone to sleep, only to wake up in this spot. What made it worse was that it was during a super high tide and try as he might he and several others couldn’t get it floating again. A couple of weeks later during our Spring Astro Workshop we ventured back to this spot and I was shocked and dismayed to see it still beached. Our group took full advantage and we got some nice images as the light from downtown Charleston made it shine in the dark. I never saw them clearing it away but I heard that was it’s fate. Such a shame.

Heading to this beauty today. With all this rain it should be flowing. I love the little hike up the river.
